Build
Are you ready?Build your Burton
The Burton adventure begins here! Build your own Burton, just the way you want it. We have warehouses full of parts, but we like it just as much when are creative yourself and design or customize things. To help you on your way, you'll find the different possibilities below. Because whether you start with a rusty 2CV or rather start with a kit with remanufactured and new parts, in the end it has to be your Burton
The Build Process

The Start
The process in the Netherlands begins with a donor car. This must be a 2CV6 or Dyane6 equipped with a 602cc engine and original VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). Take this vehicle to the RDW (Dutch Road Transport Authority) to obtain transformation approval. These documents will form the foundation of your dream build.
The Base
Clean up the work space and remove the body of the car. It's time to build the new base of the car. All parts can be examined, reused, rebuilt or replaced depending on the wishes and build budget. From the grease monkeys up to the human magpie, there is a way to build. Also, consider technical upgrades like a big bore engine for increased driving fun, uprated suspension for a sportier road feel, or a limited slip differential for sharper cornering or difficult terrain. A detailed build manual is available to support you throughout the process.
The Body
When building your Burton there is the full range of colour combinations possible. These include more then 200 colours, which can be combined with a wide range of highlights and matching upholstery options. Everything is possible, a two-tone Burton with the body and fenders in a different colour? Or something extra racy with a black bonnet? Whatever your style, we’re happy to help bring it to life.
Options, lots of options
To complete the look, there are a wide variety of options available to fit in your build. Choose from traditionally styled wheels, vintage aluminium race wheels, or our signature Burton sport wheels. Go for a low, minimalist windscreen, or a higher version with the option for a roof. You’ll also find options for steering wheels, grilles, LED headlights, and more in our webshop.
Registration
After the Burton build has completed it is time to make it official. Make an appointment at the RDW (Dutch Road Transport Authority) to register the vehicle conversion. Driving your Burton will be the next chapter in your adventure.
